The Treasury in the Munich Residenz will be closed due to construction works
The Bavarian Palace Department has announced that the Treasury in the Munich Residenz will be closed from the 11th of January till the 26nd of February in 2016 due to construction works.
The other sectors of the Munich Residenz (Residenz Museum and Cuvilliés Theater) will stay open for visitors.
A former castle, which was transformed over the centuries into the palace we see today, the Munich Residenz served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian dukes, electors and kings, precisely from 1508 to 1918.
Nowadays, one of the largest museums in Bavaria, the Munich Residenz houses a great number of museums and monuments maintained by the Bavarian Administration of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes (theResidenz museum itself, the Treasury, the Cuvilliés-Theater and the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche) along with other cultural institutions.
